In the heart of Samburu County, Kenya, a group of determined young women is taking steps to secure a brighter future for themselves and their families. In a region where opportunities are scarce, these women are driven by a common goal: to earn an income that will help them pay for their children’s education and meet the daily needs of their households.
At Heritage & Horizon Alliance, we believe in the power of local solutions. We listened when these women suggested poultry farming as a viable way to improve their lives. We are excited to launch a pilot project to provide 12 young women with the tools and knowledge they need to start their small poultry businesses.
Each 12 women will receive five chickens, carefully bred and nurtured by our local partners. But we know that success doesn’t come from resources alone but from knowledge and support. That’s why these women will undergo comprehensive training in poultry care and management before the chickens are handed over. Experienced mentors will guide them every step of the way, ensuring they have the skills needed to raise healthy, productive chickens.
But we won’t stop there. We’ll also provide these women with basic business training, equipping them with the skills to manage their new ventures effectively. From budgeting to sales, they’ll learn how to turn their poultry farms into sustainable sources of income.
This project is more than just about raising chickens—it’s about growing opportunities. By empowering these women to become entrepreneurs, we’re helping them break the cycle of poverty. Their income will be used to pay for their children’s school fees, buy essential household items, and invest back into their communities.
This initiative is just the beginning. We believe that with the proper support, these women will succeed and inspire others in their communities to do the same.
We need your support to make this project a success. Your donation will help cover the costs of the chickens, the training programs, and the ongoing mentorship these women need to thrive. By investing in this project, you’re investing in the future of Samburu County — one chicken, one woman, one family at a time.
